Welcome to my workshop page. I run a range of workshops in a variety of places. These include my very own studio/ gallery based in Sheriff Hutton, North of York. My studio is modern and contemporary and based in the heart of the beautiful village.

This page will be regularly updated but if there is a particular workshop you would be interested in please let me know. I also do bespoke workshops for 7 people if you would like to do these with a group of friends.

The vast majority of my workshops will require you to be confident (but not an expert) on your own sewing machine. Some of which need to use free machine embroidery. If you dont know if your machine has access for this facility, please still get in touch and I can guide you through finding out what we can do to help. Most of the classes will have materials supplied but I do ask you bring your own thread on the day.

There is a lot going on in the village with its very own post office that offers snacks and a pub that does bar meals. We have a beautiful church, our very own castle steeped in history and lots of lovely walks. There is a wide range of unusual accommodation in the area so please let me know if you plan to stay over. Please see seperate page for more info.......

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

EXPERIMENTAL TEXTILES

SUMMER SCHOOL

THEME: WOODLANDS

Dates: Monday 27th July- Friday 31st July

I will be running a summer school based on the theme of woodlands. We will be using a wide range of experimental techniques condensed into one week.

Consider this.....a full week to fully immerse yourself in all things experimental textiles. How does that sound? All in a lovely contemporary studio with everything to hand.

During the first day you will experiment with a range of ways to decorate Tyvek and Lutradur. Both textile materials. Don't worry if you haven't heard of them before. This will open you up to the more creative aspect of textiles. We will then work with Free Machine Embroidery, Kunin Felt, Expandit, Soluble Fabric, Bondaweb and some printing techniques.

This is a full weeks course based on the theme of woodlands. Please see workshop above. Each technique will be demonstrated and discussed and and will be suitable for beginners. At the end of the week you will have a decorated vase, bowl and mini artwork.

For those of you who wish to extend the week, I am also running a 2 day woodland workshop the weekend immediately after.

All from my Sheriff Hutton Studio
