Due to the current COVID 19 situation the majority of my courses have been cancelled/ postponed for the foreseeable future. Hopefully this situation will return to the new normal soon. In the meantime leave me a message on the contacts page and I can place you on my mailing list ready for when they start again. Places where I have been delivering classes include:

Lund Studios, Easingwold

York Arts and Crafts, Copmanthorpe, York

Ebberston Studios, Ebberston, Scarborough

Raithwaite Estate, Sandsend, Whitby

I am currently looking at running online courses. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in so I can pop you on my mailing list for future events.

I have been teaching for nearly 30 years, mainly in Secondary Schools in a range of creative subjects. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience of arts and crafts techniques and deliver to a broad audience.

More recently I have delivered a range of workshops from one day, two or three days, residentials and year long courses. Students comment on how relaxed and supportive my approach to delivering quality, fun and informative activities is and how they can use new skills to develop their own practice. I work in regular settings but am also frequently invited to deliver courses at Embroiderers Guilds and other Textiles networks.

I have a passion for teaching and an enthusiasm to pass on skills and support others in their learning. It's something I love and am always open to new challenges and learn new methods of developing mine and others textile practice.

Recently my courses have included:

An Experimental Creative year long course; exploring Lutradur, Bondaweb, Kunin Felt, Tyvek, Free Machine Embroidery, Soluble Fabrics, Foils and Films, Image transfer and Heat Shrink to name a few. Emphasis is on building a portfolio and keeping records of new skills and progress.

Another Experimental Creative year long course has been much more project based including Paper making, rusting, slow stitching, resists, block printing and sewing into metals.

Both year courses were also aimed at producing work for an exhibition at the end of the duration and full guidance and support offered to run a successful exhibition for both beginners and more experienced artists.

Landscape and seascape day courses.

Woodland two and three day courses.

Landscape mixed media and day courses.

I have delivered many other workshops and am happy to discuss the needs of individuals or groups.

This event didnt physically take place this year but it went online! This video gives a little more informtion about my processes and my current working environment. Apologies I look like a frightened rabbit caught in headlights!

I was pleased to be invited to deliver a 3 day residential course at Raithwaite Estate, Sandsend in October 2019. This was organised in conjunction with Nunnington Galleries. The workshop was a Seascape/ Landscape inspired by the local area in North Yorkshire. The course included overnight luxury executive accommodation, all meals and tuition across 3 days as well as access to all the Spa Facilities throughout the duration.

The previous residential course was covered by the prestigious COAST magazine and a journalist took part in the full experience. A copy of the 6 page article can be found in the June 2020 edition of the magazine. A great read and really does sum up the experience had by those attending.

Another residential is planned for Autumn 2020 and please visit Raithwaite Estate for further details. TBC due to current situation
